America’s Auction Academy Students Raise $11,912.00

The June class of the America’s Auction Academy in Dallas followed the tradition of previous graduating classes by conducting an in-house charity auction to help children stricken with life threatening illnesses. The auction was held on June 10th and raised $11,142.00. The funds collected will be equally distributed between St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and Texas Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital located in Dallas, Texas.

Auction items are provided by the students, instructors, the recipient hospitals and the America’s Auction Academy. Auction highlights included a stay at the 7F Lodge Bed & Breakfast located in College Station, TX donated by graduate and B&B Owner, Carol Conlee, which brought in $1,350, a America’s Auction Academy tuition donated by graduate Kevin Hartley, $900, a quail hunt brought in $600, a Greenstone pendant donated by New Zealand graduate Jane McCready fetched $525 and two original tickets from Willie Nelson’s first Fourth of July Picnic with photo, $225.  An additional $770 was donated to the National Auctioneers Association Auxiliary for purchases of Joani Mangold’s signed and numbered auction prints entitled “Unsung Heroes”.

The class was comprised of thirty eight students from across the United States including Montana, California, Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The class also included a student from New Zealand.

Known as “America’s Auction Academy”, the America’s Auction Academy was originally opened by nationally recognized auctioneer Mike Jones of Dallas in 1992. The school specializes in auctioneer training and offers a comprehensive 83 hour, nine day class concentrating on the auction method of marketing and bid calling techniques.  Instructors cover all areas of auctioneering including real estate, auto auctions, business liquidations, livestock, equipment, government sales, auction technology and fund-raising. The staff is comprised of successful auctioneers from across the United States including international and state champion auctioneers and industry leaders.
